Undergraduate Students!
The Methuselah Foundation Undergraduate Research Initiative is quite possibly the most impressive opportunity for undergraduate students in any academic discipline to develop themselves academically and professionally. Through the networking and support provided by the Methuselah Foundation, and the preliminary efforts made by our students and volunteers, we have begun a revolution that will further the honorable mission towards radical human life extension. At the same time, we provide students with unprecedented opportunities for personal, professional, and financial development. |

1. What exactly is MFURI and
how does it work? 1. What exactly is MFURI and how does it work? The Methuselah Foundation Undergraduate Research Initiative was first proposed in April, 2008. In its present form, the initiative provides students with the knowledge and logistical support to develop their own projects to further the agendas of the Methuselah Foundation, a non-profit organization which supports research and advocacy for radically extending healthy human life. As a means for promoting student interest, thousands of dollars in scholarship funds, grants, and man hours are provided annually. These support mechanisms, coupled with the logistical support of numerous dedicated, professional volunteer coordinators, provide unprecedented opportunity for student development and success in most any academic discipline. In addition to becoming eligible for scholarships and general support, MFURI students are also given the choice to perform projects and initiatives for university credit virtually anywhere within the United States. The Methuselah Foundation is a non-profit 501c(3) organization committed to the acceleration of progress toward a cure for age-related disease, disability, suffering, and death. Please click here to access the organization's website. 3. Why do I want to work within this program? Aging is a thief that robs the world of its most precious resource, the wisdom and experience embodied in each human life, while placing increasing burdens on already strained healthcare systems. The chance to become involved in an organized effort to fight aging has enlisted considerable support. For students, MFURI represents a distinct opportunity for personal development in all areas. The impressive professional networking and personalized project assistance provided by MFURI is excessively rare. Coupled with the opportunity to receive university credit and funding available in the form of competitive grants and student scholarships make this a truly remarkable opportunity for undergraduate students. 4. What projects are currently available? Specific projects are outlined according to academic major. Students of all interest and majors can participate in any of the MFURI programs outlined, and interdisciplinary cooperation is readily encouraged and utilized. We simply associate certain majors with MFURI programs to more easily categorize available projects and programs.
5. I'm so confused! Where can I get assistance? Regardless of where you are, whether trying to understand the program, developing a project, or executing an initiative, the MFURI support network is here to assist with all aspects of the program. Please click on one of the following: 6. I am not an undergraduate, can I still be involved? The short answer is absolutely. As many of our financial backers specify that their donations be given to undergraduate students, any non-undergraduate student is not eligible for our scholarships or grant funding. However, grants can be requested directly from the Methuselah Foundation, and all interested persons will still have access to our rapidly growing support networks. Non-student (or graduate student) involvement is a bit different in nature, and generally is organized directly through the Methuselah Foundation itself. However, we highly recommend that you fill out our contact forum with your credentials and interests, especially if you are interested in volunteering to promote and develop MFURI itself. 7. I am a parent. What should I think about this? If you are a parent, then you should pretend to hate this idea so your child becomes involved immediately. MFURI represents an absolutely incredible opportunity for students of all levels to be embraced and supported in all areas of their development. Coupled with our scholarship and grant programs, as well as opportunities for internships and general networking through the Methuselah Foundation, our sponsors, and our volunteers, there is literally limitless potential for students. Parents who share an interest in the mission of the Methuselah Foundation and our affiliated organizations, should consider volunteering, becoming involved, or donating to the cause. 8. How do I become eligible for scholarships? Students are eligible to apply for scholarships as soon as they are recognized as being involved in MFURI. |
